Marketing - Summer Accelerator (737933)

Marketing - Summer Accelerator

This program is open to students attending Bluffton, Capital, Denison, Heidelberg, Kenyon, Marietta, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein, Wittenberg and Wooster.
Marketing is a critical discipline in most successful businesses – even in non-profits, universities, and government organizations aiming to achieve something great. Yet, Marketing is itself defined and viewed in wildly different ways, depending on each person’s life and business experience. Some may confuse Marketing with a very important function like Sales, which is typically defined as falling outside of Marketing -- or with Advertising and Social Media Marketing, which certainly fall within “the Marketing Mix,” but are narrower and less complete than Marketing as a whole.
This program meets 4 times, virtually; Tuesdays, June 8, 15, 22 & 29 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM
At its core, Marketing is an over-arching set of dynamic and strategic activities that enhance the value of products, brands, and businesses as a whole -- in the eyes of customers, prospects, and a wide range of other key stakeholders. And, Marketing activities continue to change, faster than textbooks can keep up! This program will look at some practical definitions, the process of target market selection, strategy development, day-to-day practices, and both traditional and digital tools that together comprise what Marketing is today.
NOTE: By fully participating, you will earn a credential that signifies the time and effort you put into this program. You can include this credential on your resume and post it to your LinkedIn profile.
Your lead instructor, Neil Collins, is the President and Founder of his own consulting practice, Results Marketing Group, which focuses on helping businesses create, launch, and build brands that customers love and employees are proud to represent. (Neil will be supported by speakers who are experts in specific marketing disciplines as well as other business leaders.)
Neil earned his undergrad degree in Economics at Wesleyan University in Connecticut and his MBA, focusing on Marketing and General Management, at the Harvard Business School. Neil has served in marketing leadership roles for national consumer brands like Aquafresh oral care (Glaxo SmithKline), Renu contact lens care (Bausch & Lomb), and Classico Italian foods (Borden Foods). He later served as CEO for an accredited career education business and CMO for a major independent supplier of energy to millions of customers, both households and businesses.
Neil also currently serves as Leader at Innovate New Albany, a business incubator and a hub for innovators and entrepreneurs who are serious about building businesses that are both valuable and sustainable. Neil’s previous
teaching experiences include Franklin University, Columbus College of Art & Design, and the MBA program at Otterbein University.
