Key Activities
The Center for Learning and Teaching offers the following programs:
- Teaching Matters: Ongoing opportunities for conversation, reflection, and interactive exploration of diverse pedagogical topics for faculty across all disciplines and experience levels.
- Denison Teaching Seminar: Regular sessions where faculty new to our campus develop and refine effective teaching methods, engage with a supportive community, and build cross-campus connections.
- Denison Visiting Faculty Seminar: A collaborative learning community designed to help visiting faculty develop and refine their teaching goals and strategies while navigating the nuances of their visiting roles.
- Denison Reflection Seminar: A community of practice for faculty after their third-year review that fosters critical reflection and ongoing pedagogical development leading up to the tenure process.
- Faculty Learning Communities: Groups meeting regularly to delve into specific teaching and learning-related topics, and to generate actionable conclusions.
- External Expertise: Workshops and dialogues with external thought leaders to explore new ideas and enhance campus conversations about teaching and learning.
- Open Doors: Classroom observation days so colleagues can see each other in action.
- Let’s Talk Teaching: A weekly newsletter offering campus reflections and curated, research-based digital resources to support ongoing faculty development and pedagogical engagement.
In addition to CfLT programming, Denison has funds for professional development, fellowships, and sabbaticals through the Provost Office.
