This spring, students in Professor Keith Spencer’s advanced painting class read works by Boris Groys, a philosopher and art critic, and Katy Siegel, an essayist on modern and contemporary artists. The students responded by creating works of their own, exploring ways that painting today resists finality, embraces contradiction, and opens up new conceptual and material possibilities. The result, an exhibition titled HISTORY, was featured in the Denison Libraries’ first floor throughway space from April 9 through May 7.

HISTORY featured works by: Mason Allen ’25, Han Bui ’25, Bea Chadwick ’27, Chloe Chai ’25, Saul Dorado ’25, Charlie Fenwick ’27, Anna Groninger ’28, Renai Heath ’25, Mark Moore ’26, Alex Noel ’26, Courtney Simmons ’25, Sodahny Sip ’25, Evie Sparks ’28, Grace Vap ’26, and Jisahng Yoon ’28.
