King Center for Data & Innovation
Launched in 2026, the Emily Hauser King and Robert E. King Center for Data & Innovation positions Denison as the first liberal arts college with a hub devoted to integrating data across the curriculum.
The King Center anchors the reimagined and revitalized Knobel Hall, renamed to honor President Emeritus Dale Knobel and his wife, Tina, in recognition of a lead gift from the Sherman Fairchild Foundation and houses the departments of computer science, data analytics, and data for political research.
Emily Hauser King ’63 and Robert E. King established the King Center for Data & Innovation. The new center empowers Denison students to thrive in a world increasingly shaped by data while staying true to the liberal arts tradition that grounds their education.
Next-Gen learning spaces
Facilities equipped with the latest technology expand learning possibilities through extended reality, data visualization, and machine learning and robotics.
Extended reality
Students can create a solar system, walk through ancient Roman ruins, or manipulate molecular structures with their hands — the XR lab transforms abstract concepts into immersive experiences.
Machine learning and robotics lab
From balancing inverted pendulums to programming 6-axis robotic arms, move beyond theory to hands-on experimentation with AI and robotics systems, building the practical skills that top tech companies demand.
Equipped with interactive displays and collaborative tools, our Data Visualization Lab turns complex datasets into visual stories that students can explore, manipulate, and decode.
Building connections through data and technology
Build careers, spark innovation, and create a community in innovation spaces that facilitate learning and opportunity at the King Center.
Collaborate with industry leaders
Denison’s professional residency programs bring accomplished executives to The Hill, offering students high-level networks and expertise in business, finance, marketing, and more.
Three multi-purpose classrooms with modern technology
In partnership with the Knowlton Center for Career Exploration, the King Center partners with Denison Edge to help students achieve technical skills that employers demand, including Excel, GIS, R, and Python.
Specialized robotics and virtual reality labs
The King Center engages and stimulates students through data-driven competitions, case studies, internships, and networking with industry partners, and highlights student and alumni achievements.
