In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Denison Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Philip Rudd, performs a special concert honoring those who serve our nation and communities. The program features the world premiere of Symphony No. 1: Valor, composed by Ching-chu Hu, professor of music and director of the Vail Series at Denison. Commissioned by the Granville Historical Society, the work honors longtime Denison physics professor and dean of students F. Trevor “Trig” Gamble, a valued member of the Granville community. Hu is an award-winning composer whose music has been performed nationally and internationally. Baritone Harris Ipock, associate professor of music and director of choral activities at Denison, joins the orchestra as guest soloist.
