The Global Studies Seminar presents a talk titled “Health in the Anthropocene,” by Carlos Alberto Faerron Guzmán.

As an emerging field, planetary health seeks to understand the interlinkages between anthropogenic changes to natural systems and human health. Planetary health further uses these emerging understandings to find solutions that integrate the wellbeing of our biosphere. This presentation will explore the concept of planetary from the lens of global and local trends.

Guzmán is currently assistant professor of Global Health at the University of Maryland Baltimore, Graduate School.  He is also the Director of the Centro Interamericano para la Salud Global (CISG) in Costa Rica and acts as the associate director of the Planetary Health Alliance at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, as well as adjunct faculty at the University of Costa Rica and the Department of Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
