The Denison Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Conductor Chelsea Gallo, presents a concert of pieces that all have something special in common: borrowed songs. Beginning the concert will be a piece by Leos Janacek that borrows folk melodies from the Czech countryside. Next, is a beautiful presentation of three popular folk songs by Florence Price that she rearranged to highlight her incredible ability to compose in counterpoint. Concluding the concert will be “Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 3” by Ottorino Respighi. Respighi took 16th-century lute music and arranged it for string orchestra.

Limited in-person seating is available for Denison students, faculty and staff and advanced tickets are required.
