For Incoming Students

Denison’s Information Technology Services (ITS) provides recommended and minimum configurations for student computers based on network requirements and software compatibility.

Owning a computer is not required to attend Denison, however, many students find it very beneficial to their college experience. Please visit the Tech Guide for Incoming Students for information about technology on campus and what to bring.

Technology Description
Software When purchasing a computer, you may be offered the option to add Microsoft Office and antivirus/antispyware software to your purchase. You do not need to purchase these. Denison provides Microsoft Office for both Windows and Mac computers at no charge. For antivirus/antispyware protection, Denison’s Information Technology Services (ITS) group recommends use of the built-in Windows Defender on Windows 10 and the Sophos Home Free offering for macOS as no-cost options.
Power Conditioning You should bring a surge protector to protect your equipment from power surges.
