They learn how to handle and clean ceramics, printed materials, textiles, wooden and painted objects. And they learn how to research items and curate collections. It’s all about observing, thinking and asking critical questions.
Ben Bowers ’20 is a freshman that is undeclared and considering geoscience. He enjoys birdwatching, making art, and is an amateur poet. He wanted to work in the museum because he hopes to also work in a museum after graduating.
Gabby Caldwell ‘19 is a Black Studies major. Alongside her internship with the Denison Museum as a Collections Intern she works with World Peaces in Granville a fair-trade retail/wholesale business. She aspires to take the skills she has learned working at the museum and apply them to the works of art she handles at World Peaces. In the future she would like to be World Peaces’ buyer traveling across the world and working one on one with artisans.
Mallory Cheng ‘19 is an Exhibitions intern at the museum. She is a sophomore from Chicago, studying Anthropology & Sociology and Educational Studies. Some of her hobbies are trying out new restaurants to eat with friends and going on long walks. She’s always had a passion to work in museums, and wanted to share that enthusiasm with others.

Aidan Cronin ‘17 is a senior Art History and Visual Culture major and Studio Art minor. He has a passion for writing, drawing, exploring the built environment and chairs. Aidan began working at the museum because of his art history background.
Celestia Goodwin ‘19 is a sophomore, and major in English Literature. She likes to read fantasy novels and bake sweets. She’s always loved museums, is really excited to work here.
Eva Jorn ‘20 is a freshman from Milwaukee Wisconsin. Some of her favorite pastimes are swimming, art, and hiking. She joined the museum because she loves history.
Kevin Julian ’18 is a junior Classical Studies major from Granville, Ohio. Kevin has interned at the Denison Museum for over a year with duties such as a cataloging, rehousing, and researching. Kevin’s hobbies include watching movies, playing games, and hanging with friends. He wishes to use his experience at the museum and within his major to potentially pursue a career in Museum Studies.
Bianca Lee ‘17 is a senior History major and an Anth/Soc minor with aspirations of either becoming a counselor and/or working in the non-profit world. Her previous experience at the museum as a summer intern involved learning about curation, research and writing on political cartoons, and framing and matting. Her hobbies include reading heart-warming novels, working out, and watching and critiquing anime. She hopes to learn more about curating and art education at the museum over the course of the year.
Lashonda Love ’18 is a Music Performance major from Columbus, Ohio. She currently works as the Monomoy Curatorial Intern for the Denison Museum and as an Usher for the Vail Series. She is involved in multiple campus music ensembles and other Fine Arts courses. Lashonda hopes to start a non-profit arts organization or participate in an arts education program for students without the financial means to study music or other arts in depth. She enjoys writing, performing folk music and slam poetry, yoga, and video gaming. Through her work at the museum, she hopes to get more experience learning how art, in all it’s various forms, can communicate with other art and learn how to share this experience with others. She also just enjoys geeking out about getting to touch museum objects.
Grace Martin ‘18 is a junior Art History Visual Culture major here at Denison. I enjoy getting into the matrix of Art History theory and studying obscure works of art that tend to make people feel uncomfortable. I started working at the museum to gain some experience working with physical pieces of art rather than just images of images.
Hai Nghiem ‘18 is the digital productions intern at Denison Museum. I’m originally from Saigon, Vietnam. He majors in Cinema and Economics at Denison. His hobbies are taking pictures, filming, and play sports. He also like tacos a lot.
Sophia Raak ‘20 is a Writing/Research intern at the Denison Museum. She is majoring in French and has a passion for foreign language. Her current endeavours involve trying to switch between French and English thoughts and reminding herself to study the next verb tense in Korean (which she has failed to do for the last six months). She loves her work at the museum, even when her mind goes on information overload. Who wouldn’t want to painstakingly research the intricacies of history, anyway?
Arnav Somani ‘18 is a junior from Nagpur, India. His work revolves around mixed media, especially graphics and video. One of his favorite places in the world is an exhibit at the MET, which explains my attraction towards museums in general. At the museum I do mostly graphics, including all the promotional posters, large banners, and wall vinyl.
Daniel Timmerman ‘19 is from Holland, Michigan. Daniel’s interests include: George Plimpton, needlepoint, Ferris wheels, Weezer, and museums (specifically the branch of the Air and Space museum housed at the Washington Dulles Airport). Over the past four summers Daniel worked as a councilor at the Hope College Summer Science Camps, teaching children aged Pre-K to 8th grade about robotics and earth sciences. During the spring semester of senior year in high school, Daniel interned at the Holland Museum where he helped organize and plan children’s programs. Daniel is not sure what he wants to major in, but is interested in many things including, but not limited to: history, geology, and education.
