Basil Khan ’22

I serve as the Community Coordinator for our residential communities on North Loop and East Quad. As such, I lead a Community Advisor cohort of 18 student staff members in relationship development, community involvement, and residential engagement. Our Community Advisors maintain residence and active presence in the communities they oversee. They are trained to be resource hubs and friendship experts for our student residents. Throughout the academic year, I convene with my cohort weekly to discuss pertinent community affairs. Residential life is a critical component of the Denisonian collegiate rite of passage and I function on that principle.

Prior to Denison, my connection and engagement with students has been broad and in-depth including as a Community Public Service Fellow, Student Dialogue Fellow, Academical Village resident, and founding leader of the Bluegrass Club at the University of Virginia. I have also served as a Recovery Guide at Merakey in Philadelphia and as a Student Success Advisor at Piedmont Virginia Community College.

My practice is inspired by many formative educational passages and people. These include a diversity of historic institutions in the US and Pakistan, and sincere affiliation with a mutual admiration society. At Denison, I bring this sense of life-shaping education to residential life.

Outside of vocational responsibilities, I am most often with my wife and son. As a musician, I am often playing guitar solo, or with fine picker friends. As an alumnus of Denison, it is wonderful being on-campus and I am often outdoors in our arcadian college on the hill.
