The Narrative Journalism Concentration in conjunction with the Beck Series welcomes Jon Fine, executive editor of Inc. Magazine. Fine has worked as a media columnist for BusinessWeek, where his columns have won American Society of Business Publication Editors and National Headliner awards. His memoir “Your Band Sucks,” about his long-running alternate life as a musician, was published by Penguin in 2015 and received critical acclaim The New York Times and The Atlantic, among others.

He has also been editorial director of Magnum Photos and served as a contributor to CNBC, providing on-air commentary on media and technology issues. His freelance work has appeared in GQ, Vanity Fair, and Details, and his work for Food & Wine won a James Beard Award in 2010. As a guitarist in the bands Bitch Magnet, Coptic Light, and Don Caballero, among others, he has performed in fifteen countries on three continents and has appeared on MTV.
