DUing Good in Indianapolis
Join Denisonians at Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. As the largest food bank in Indiana, they source, store, and distribute nutritious food at scale, providing nearly half of all charitable food distributed in Indiana.
Attendees will be able to connect and gather for lunch after the service is complete. Spots are limited so register today!
Volunteers will be loading cars, directing traffic, and bagging bulk food items for the food pantry drive-thru distribution. This project is indoors, with some positions outdoors directing traffic.
This project does require repetitive light lifting (think loading your groceries in the car) and bending, but some accommodations can be made. Please let us know prior to signing up or when you arrive if you need light-duty accommodations.
Helpful Information:
Recommended attire is casual for a warehouse enviornment and Denison spirit wear is encouraged. Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather.
Parking:
Please review the volunteer map, for more information about where to park and check in once you arrive. Volunteers will enter at door No. 5. Parking space on-site is limited. Please consider carpooling if that is appropriate for your group. The pantry line may extend down Waldemere when the pantry is open. Volunteers should bypass Waldemere Ave. to avoid getting stuck in the pantry line. Use Hanna Circle to bypass Waldemere Ave. (From Hanna Circle, take the third left and cut behind the warehouse across from the pantry.) When you reach the parking lot entrance, turn on your flashers to indicate you are a volunteer, and a traffic control officer will check in with you to direct you to the right place.
