Denison’s Studio Art program welcomes Timothy Berg. Berg received his Bachelor of Fine Arts magna cum laude from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2000 and his Master of Fine Arts from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2003. Berg is an assistant professor of Ceramics at Pitzer College in Claremont, California. His current exhibitions include a solo show entitled “All Good Things…” at Dean Project in Long Island City, New York and a group show entitled “Confrontational Ceramics” at the Westchester Arts Center in New York.

“My work originates with commonplace perceptions. I attempt to distill the stereotypical views people have of nature into humorous visual allusions. My intention is not to make didactic statements but rather to pose, in an accessible way, fundamental questions that address how and where human artifice influences and affects our understanding and interaction with the environment.”

During his visit, Berg had an evening lecture and did individual critiques with students throughout the day. Previously, in November the Visual Arts Practicum class took a trip to New York City and were able to see Berg’s work on exhibit.
