The Denison Community Association took a mindfulness break this week with Linnea Pyne. Linnea Pyne, is a Mindfulness Facilitator from UCLA that has been contracted by Denison for the past year. Mindfulness encompasses a range of practices with demonstrated health and mental health benefits. DCA found it incredibly helpful!

Below are a few comments from students that attended:

“It was a super relaxing and positive experience. I got to feel more in tune with my mind and body through breathing and listening practices. This was my first time participating in mindfulness practices but I am sure to integrate them into my regular schedule when I need a break from work.”

“I so appreciated the opportunity to practice mindfulness with other members of the DCA community. Linnea was so helpful in providing practical, realistic and beneficial ways to incorporate mindfulness into my daily life. I especially liked the ways she taught us how to engage in mindfulness with those around us, practicing listening and breathing. I think my favorite part though was the reminder to practice gratitude and to appreciate all of the good things in my life. Her approach was flexible, nonjudgmental, and allowed me to realize that bringing mindfulness into my day to day is not only easy, but also incredibly valuable in helping me to live a healthy and well-balanced life”.

“The mindfulness workshop was incredibly helpful and enjoyable. Linnea focused the session in a way that was effective and helpful for everyone in attendance. Her collaborative approach allowed for graduating seniors to share mindfulness strategies that we had learned or those that we wish we had focused on earlier in college with younger students. The collective group was then able to reflect on the experiences, process and skills we noticed throughout each of the practices Linnea taught us. I know that in the upcoming finals week and in life beyond graduation, I will surely remember and utilize the practices Linnea led us through at this mindfulness workshop”.
