Denison University’s Policy on Responsible Hosting of Social Events—designed in collaboration by students, faculty, and staff—is intended to provide autonomy to student social gatherings, facilitate risk reduction, and empower student hosts to promote a safe, mutually respectful, and enjoyable social environment for all members of the community.

Students are expected to register social events with alcohol in order to demonstrate that they have taken necessary precautions to provide a safe environment for guests and to ensure that their event remains respectful of those not in attendance.

The success of this policy relies upon the cooperative efforts of students, faculty, staff, alumni and other community members in both understanding and upholding the spirit of personal responsibility and respect for self and others.
