Denison’s athletic facilities ranked among nation’s best

June 18, 2026

Denison University’s athletic facilities are among the best at the NCAA Division III level, according to an online recruiting platform geared toward helping high school student-athletes navigate the process of choosing a school.

D3Direct, a company built by former D-III athletes that caters to prospective D-III athletes, ranked Denison 11th overall for the quality of its athletic facilities. Denison placed above schools such as New York University (17th) and Johns Hopkins University (24th).

“Many of these (top 25) D3 setups will make your local D1 college sports program jealous,” D3Direct reported.

The recognition is not the first to single out Denison for the high caliber of its athletic facilities. The Princeton Review recently named Denison’s athletic facilities as sixth best in the nation, a ranking that included Division I schools.

Denison’s athletic program had a remarkable 2025-26, a historic year that culminated with a NCAA baseball championship earlier this month — the Big Red’s third national title in the span of four months. Men’s swimming and diving and women’s basketball won national titles earlier this year.

Denison is now the first Division III program in Ohio to win three NCAA team titles in three different sports in the same academic year.

At the national level, Denison’s athletics program was one of only three in the country to win three or more NCAA titles in the 2025-26 academic year. There are 426 Division III colleges.

“The past year embodied the competitive excellence that’s more than an abstract ideal or aspirant value for the Denison athletics program,” said Associate Vice President and Athletic Director Matt Tanney. “It’s a tangible outcome that student-athletes, coaches, and staff commit to every day through their actions.”
