Denison’s foreign language requirement states that students who have taken a language in high school must complete the equivalent of the third semester (211). The AGRS department does not provide language waivers — all students must take their third semester at Denison.

For all students who have taken ancient Greek or Latin in high school, we recommend completing your language requirement as early as possible in your college career.

Students who have taken ancient Greek in high school should contact the department chair to discuss placement based on their individual experience.

All students who took Latin in high school will need to take the Latin placement exam through Canvas. Placement test scores are only good for a two-year period before a student must retake the placement test.
