Biography

Ricardo (Ric) Hall serves as vice president for Student Life, leading a division that aims to create a well-rounded campus experience that supports the holistic development of Denison students. He is a nationally recognized student affairs leader with over 25 years of higher education experience. Previously, he served as vice president for Student Affairs at Lehigh University, leading initiatives to enhance wellness, belonging, and student success. A respected strategic thinker, he has also led strategic planning efforts. He is a champion of applying current student data to inform and enhance student life professionals’ work. Ric’s extensive background includes successful tenures at the University of Miami, Wake Forest University, and Clemson University.

As a long-time and active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, Ric’s service has included an appointment to the James E. Scott Academy Board, whose roster includes recognized thought leaders in the field. He is also committed to promoting college and university accountability through accreditation, as demonstrated through his volunteer efforts as a campus evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

An active advocate of students and their positive campus involvement and engagement, Ric values open communication on the sometimes challenging subject matter and encourages comfortable, thoughtful, and civil discourse on topics related to college life and life in general. He is visible on campus, often dropping in on student events and student organization meetings. He is also a proponent of all forms of fitness and wellness and can regularly be found on a campus racquetball or basketball court or in the stands supporting Big Red athletic events.
