Alex Patton
Alex brings hands-on experience from enterprise data centers and education, backed by a Cisco CCNA (2023) and a proven track record in troubleshooting, design, and reliable connectivity. Previously a Data Center Technician at AWS, he diagnosed and repaired server hardware and managed networking gear; in secure environments with a focus on uptime and precise cabling. Earlier roles include a Field Technician position with Columbus City Schools, where he deployed and resolved network and device issues for students and staff, and a period as an independent contractor leading large Fortinet deployments while building home lab environments.
At Denison, he designs, implements, and maintains campus networks that support teaching, research, and student life, prioritizing security, scalability, and performance. He brings hands-on expertise with VLANs, firewall rules, Wi‑Fi coverage, data/control/management planes, and network security practices to ensure dependable access for all users. He is a collaborative problem-solver and lifelong learner. He works closely with IT teams across campus to drive improvements, mentor colleagues and students in networking fundamentals, and continue expanding Denison’s network capabilities.
