Guest percussionist Matthew Lau presents IDENTITY, a 60-minute, non-stop multimedia program blending vibraphone, electronics, and video. Through this innovative performance, Lau embraces his queer Asian identity and a fusion of styles, featuring both classic works and exciting new commissions. As a POC percussionist in a traditionally cis white male-dominated field, Lau challenges norms, breaks down stereotypes, and redefines boundaries. His commitment to fresh commissions, dynamic touring, and exceptional artistry showcases his bold vision and transformative approach to percussion.
