The Denison University Department of Theatre celebrates its new home in the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts with an exclusive live performance adapted from the award-winning animated Netflix series, BoJack Horseman.

In honor of our alumnus, friend, and benefactor, Michael Eisner ’64, the Department of Theatre celebrates and inaugurates its new home in the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts with BoJack Horseman, a stage adaptation of the acclaimed and complex Netflix animated series, produced by Michael Eisner Productions and the Tornante Company.  Created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, BoJack Horseman is regularly ranked among the best shows on television.

“Ian Crouch described the series as “a comedy about an anthropomorphic talking horse … a show-biz washout in Los Angeles.” “BoJack is a silly show,” he writes, “that is also deeply, unshakably sad,” praised by critics “for the way it blends fast-paced absurdist comedy with unexpected depth” of character and purpose (“‘BoJack Horseman’ and the Comedy of Despair,” The New Yorker 8/14/2015).

Denison’s stage Bojack Horseman focuses on a moment of crisis between two old friends struggling to understand one another, midway through the series’ third season.  BoJack Horseman, adapted from the episode “Best Thing That Ever Happened,” by Kate Purdy, will be directed and adapted for the stage by Mark Evans Bryan ’96, Chair of the Department of Theatre. This is the first theatre production on the Sharon Martin Hall stage.

This production contains adult language and topics.
