This year at Denison we have collected 301 units of blood so far with one more blood drive scheduled next month on May 6th. This has been our best year since 2008 for donations. Every drive this year has collected over their target goal fulfilling the needs of our hospitals and most importantly their patients. The efforts at Denison this year alone have the possibility of effecting up to over 900 lives.

When we asked one of our longtime donors, Suzanne Baker, why she was willing to donate so often she said, “When I was growing up my father gave blood religiously, every 8 weeks. I thought that was pretty awesome and was a small way one could pass on life. I began giving blood in college and have continued regularly since that point. I now know that one donated pint of blood is passed on to three people. Besides knowing my blood is helping others I think of my father each time I donate.”

The office workers at Alford CLIC have been the stars for getting people to donate. Justin Lynn from the Red Cross stated “This has been our most successful school year and it couldn’t have been accomplished without the students and faculty consistently rolling up their sleeves and giving blood. Well done.”
