Andrew Quay ’21
I’m Andrew and I am a Political Science & Economics double major from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I came to Denison thinking I would go pre-med, then I took Calculus and Chemistry in the same semester. I plan on going to law school next fall and working in-house counsel afterwards.
Georgia Sullivan ’21
My name is Georgia Sullivan and I am a double major in Political Science and Communications from Marblehead, Massachusetts. My favorite subfield I have studied in my three years at Denison has been American Politics. Thanks to everyone in the Political Science department for a great few years!
Rob Saylor ’21
My name is Rob Saylor, I am from North Potomac, Maryland (right outside of Washington, D.C.) and I attended Georgetown Prep for high school. I am a Political Science major and a Psychology minor. I transferred to Denison from Wofford College in South Carolina following my sophomore year, and I have fallen in love with Denison ever since. I am a Political Science fellow, and am a member of the Denison football team. Some of my hobbies include drinking an inordinate amount of coffee, passionately watching the Cleveland Browns (lose), watching any comic book or Star Wars movie, and poetry. After graduation, I am planning on attending law school! Denison has been immensely helpful in preparing me for this next step in my journey, and for that I will be forever grateful.
Sarah MacKenzie ’21
Hello! My name is Sarah MacKenzie and I am a senior Political Science major. I grew up in Denver, Colorado and I have two sisters and two dogs (one puppy on the way!!). My time at Denison has been full of different clubs and activities but my major has remained the core of my experience here. Ever since I took Dr. Pool and Dr. Djupe’s intro classes at the same time my sophomore year, I knew Political Science was the right path for me … it has been quite the journey but I have loved every minute of it!

On campus you can find me attending my virtual classes from a red Adirondack chair on A-Quad, singing with LNO a cappella, giving a socially distant campus tour, or birdwatching in the bio reserve! Some fun facts about me – I recently became an ordained minister, I studied in Portugal for two months and then studied Portuguese language and European politics from my couch for two months, and I am licensed to drive a boat as big as 60 feet long in international waters! Catch me leaving America by sea after graduation.
Madelaine Baker ’21
Hi! My name is Madelaine Baker and I’m a senior from Suffolk in England, I’m majoring in Political Science (obviously) with a Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) concentration. On-campus I am primarily involved as the President of Denison’s chapter of Amnesty International and also work as the Amnesty State Activist Coordinator (SAC) for Ohio. Aside from that, I work as a Red Corps Fellow and am currently undertaking research on 19th Century Arab immigration within the MENA department. After graduation, I hope to move back to England, get a masters in Social Anthropology and Development before becoming a full-time writer! My favourite font to write in is Rockwell and I love to use brackets (parenthesis) incorrectly!

I love to travel, read, hike, ski, and do basically anything outdoors! This past summer I worked as a Political Affairs Intern at The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization working to make global poverty a focus of U.S. foreign policy. After graduation, I am not sure what I want to pursue. Possibly law school but I am excited to move somewhere new and experience a different part of the country!

Hi everyone! My name is Anna Berman. I am a Political Science major and Psychology minor from New Haven, Connecticut. I am a department fellow and I am involved in Kappa Alpha Theta and DU Votes. Beyond the hill, I have done health ethics research through the Yale Bioethics Center and I am looking forward to presenting my work at the UNESCO Bioethics conference. In my free time, I like getting mint oreo Whits, petting dogs, and watching the sunsets with my roommates. After graduation, I hope to attend graduate school and safely stand within 6ft of people.
Maddie Korkowski ’21
Hi I’m Maddie, a political science major and history minor. I am from outside of Washington D.C. and therefore always have been around the political scene sparking my interest in politics growing up. Being a political science major has reinforced my understanding of the importance of using our voice to promote political change, so please do not forget to register to vote!
Lisette López ’21
My name is Lisette López and I’m a senior from Chicago double-majoring in Political Science and Anthropology/Sociology. On campus, I am part of the First Generation Network, a sister of Sigma Lambda National Sorority, Inc., and a peer advisor at the Knowlton Center. Last summer, I was able to intern abroad at the Fulbright Association in Chile. Currently, I am interning for a coordinated campaign based in Arizona. Mayank Kumar ’21
Hello! My name is Mayank Kumar and I’m a Political Science and Religion double major from Calcutta, India. On campus, I’m involved in the international students association and student government amongst other things. I like reading, old movies, and puppies. I deeply aspire to secretly control world affairs from a small office in a skyscraper someday.
Jacqueline Figueroa ’21
Hi everyone! I’m Jacqueline (Jackie), and I am a political science and an anthropology/sociology major from Columbus, OH. I’m part of the executive team for Sisters in Dialogue, which is a group dedicated to community building and mentorship for women of color on campus. I’m also a fellow for the department, and a student worker. I have met some pretty amazing people through the department (and, of course, within the department), and I am grateful for all the opportunities I have had to expand my horizons and learn more about my interests through my majors. I’m not really sure what’s next, but I’m ready to put my skills and knowledge to good use.

Jack Scalia ’21
I could not be happier with my choice of Political Science as a major. While challenging, Political Science has taught me how to challenge convention, thinking critically, and write well. The department and its great professors have been instrumental to my experience here on the Hill —I wouldn’t change anything. When I am not trying to earn the elusive “A” from Dr. Katz, you can find me out on Deeds field, representing the Big Red lacrosse team.
Aidan O’Neill ’21
My name is Aidan O’Neill and I’m from central New Jersey. I am a senior on the men’s lacrosse team, and in addition to political science, am pursuing a minor in history.
