Makiva McIntosh ‘02 joins YWCA’s executive leadership as chief advancement and engagement officer to oversee the organization’s fundraising efforts and marketing and communications strategy.

“The YWCA Columbus executive board is eager to share this news and for Makiva to step into this role,” Janelle Coleman, chairwoman of the YWCA Columbus board, said in a release. “Her diverse experience and leadership are impressive, and her track record speaks for itself.”

McIntosh has made a career in fundraising strategy. She’s spent the past six years as associate director of development and director of annual giving at The Wellington School, Central Ohio’s 13th-largest private school, according to Columbus Business First research.

Prior to that, she spent eight years in similar roles at Denison University, where she also earned her bachelor’s degree in anthropology/sociology.

“Makiva is a highly accomplished fundraising professional with more than 20 years of experience,” Elizabeth Brown, president and CEO of YWCA Columbus, said in a release.

“We are confident in the skills she is bringing to our organization, as well as her passion for our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women in this community.”

YWCA Columbus is Central Ohio’s 31st-largest social services nonprofit, according to Columbus Business First research. The organization brings in about $9.66 million in local revenue annually.
