The Department of Theatre welcomes Available Light Theatre presenting “Remain In Light,” an original play (with music) about an ordinary woman braving the difficult journey of learning to make a life worth living. A theatrical look at the tenets and tools of the Positive Psychology movement, “Remain In Light” was created by visiting artists Available Light Theatre, and will be presented as part of their residency with Denison.

“Remain in Light” is a collage of movement, moments, songs, and visions; a practical handbook for being a better whatever you already are; a play written for anyone seeking more joy and well being.

“This kaleidoscopic, physical collage tackles some of the biggest questions facing us today… It’s a reminder to be here in the moment and here for one another. Who among us couldn’t use that?” (Richard Sanford, Columbus Underground)

Performance Dates and Times are as follows:

  • Saturday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m.

In addition, join us for “A Brief Introduction to the Science of Positive Psychology” a workshop on Nov. 16, 2-4 p.m.

Available Light will share an introduction to the key concepts of Positive Psychology which inspired the theatrical creation of “Remain in Light.” The workshop will be led by Michelle Schroeder-Lowrey, CAPP (Certificate of Applied Positive Psychology.) Schroeder-Lowrey is a founding member of Available Light and teaches music, movement, and drama at Columbus Academy. She earned her CAPP at The Flourishing Center and is a certified Resiliency Trainer.

Positive Psychology has been a big part of my life for the past couple of years, and I’ve come to understand that, as human beings and artists, we need to give ourselves permission to feel a full range of emotions. That leads us to have more success at bouncing back from adversity and feeling happiness throughout our lives.” (Michelle Schroeder-Lowrey, CAPP)
