Career Readiness Boot Camp
During the Boot Camp program, students take a trip to nearby Columbus, with visits to several companies and an alumni networking event.
At some point in time, this question hits every student: “How do I get started in my career search?”
Denison’s Career Readiness Boot Camp takes you from “zero to hero” in just three days. You will learn how to articulate your unique value; how to present yourself through resumes, cover letters and interviews; and how to network, both in person and via technology.
You’ll also take a First Look trip to Columbus, with visits to several companies and an alumni networking event.
How it works:
On the first day, you will join a small group led by a career coach, then you’ll participate in several workshops on writing resumes and cover letters, networking, creating LinkedIn profiles, interviewing, and more.
You’ll learn how to access Handshake, LinkedIn, and Wisr, technologies. And you’ll complete a self-assessment, write an elevator pitch, and learn great interviewing techniques.
The second day is spent off-campus, in Columbus, Ohio; the nation’s 14th largest city, the home of global business and industries, and a hub of entrepreneurs and start-ups. You’ll visit several companies in different fields — and might even end the day at a networking event with local alumni.
On the final day, you’ll apply what you’ve learned over the past two days. You’ll practice mock interviews, polish your resume, and write cover letters to companies that interest you.
Students have said that three days in Boot Camp increased their confidence — you’ll be more confident too, as you move through your career exploration journey.
