Denison University’s director of bands, Dr. Chris Westover-Muñoz, has been appointed music director of the Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble, which was founded in 1956, is composed of professional and community musicians, educators, and outstanding students. Through concerts and outreach programs, the orchestra proudly aims to “educate and inspire audiences” and enrich the “artistic, economic, and cultural life of the community”.
Dr. Westover-Muñoz has recently returned from Kansas where the orchestra performed their February 16 Winter Classics Concert. The concert will feature works by Cesar Franck and Augusta Read Thomas and includes performances by this year’s Young Artists Competition winners.
