When the series finale of Lost ends on May 23, fans of the popular television show will undoubtedly go into mourning. Aaron Rosenthal ‘06, Alex Green ‘06, and Mike Berlin ‘04, however, will probably just pass out.
The three former Mulberry House roommates will be holding a LOST-A-THON to raise $100,000 for their favorite charities: The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, and The Nature Conservancy. The plan is to watch all 121 Lost episodes back to back, setting a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive hours of TV watched in a single sitting.
The event will be streamed live on the Web, and has already attracted sponsors like Think Gum and ROCKSTAR energy drinks, whose caffeine- laced products will play a crucial role in carrying the bleary-eyed trio through three sleepless nights.
So where do you need to be to catch the trio in hour 57? Head to Professor Thoms, a bar on 2nd Avenue in New York City. “They’re the biggest Lost bar in the city,” says Rosenthal. “They’ve been showing Lost on Tuesday nights for the past four years with a couple hundred people who show up every week.” The Lost-addicts will watch the episodes from the second floor terrace of the bar, so the spot will be ideal for the ending Rosenthal has in mind. “We’d like to have it culminate in a party.”
