The Goodspeed Lecture Series welcomes theologian and social ethicist Keri Day, presenting a lecture titled "The Unfinished Business of American Democracy." Day is associate professor of Theological and Social Ethics and director of Black Church Studies Program at Brite Divinity School, Texas Christian University.
Day earned a master's in Religion and Ethics from Yale University Divinity School and received her doctorate in Philosophy and Religion from Vanderbilt University. Her academic research focuses on how black religious thought addresses global economics, especially among poor women of color. Her articles and essays on religion and economics have been published in a number of nationally regarded journals. Day's first academic book is titled "Unfinished Business: Black Women, The Black Church, and the Struggle to Thrive in America." Her second book, "Religious Resistance to Neoliberalism: Womanist and Black Feminist Perspectives," will be published in December.
