The IDEA Student Certificate process connects you to opportunities, experiences, and knowledge that increase your ability and commitment to creating a community of inclusion and belonging on campus and beyond The Hill. 

The process is in alignment with the Denison Forward initiative and the Division of Student Life’s 2022-2027 Strategic Priorities.

As you progress through the program, you will learn to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of your social identities
  • Demonstrate an awareness of your privilege and its impact
  • Demonstrate an understanding of common IDEA concepts and terminology
  • Recognize your implicit biases and how to interrupt them
  • Recognize and engage in IDEA experiences across campus
  • Build community and productive relationships across differences
  • Articulate your personal views, thoughts, and perspectives on IDEA
  • Acknowledge areas for IDEA improvement and recognize opportunities to address them

The program is facilitated by Denison student life professionals, members of the faculty, and outside experts.

After you complete your program, you will receive:

  • A roster of other cohort members to continue IDEA conversations and to build a community of allies
  • A limited edition lapel pin
  • An invitation to the IDEA end-of-year celebration
  • Recognition on The Center for Belonging and Inclusion webpage
  • An IDEA Fellows email signature
