Writers Eula Biss and John Bresland Will Visit Campus

Journalism at Denison and the Beck Series welcome Eula Biss and John Bresland to campus on March 24-25. The two writers will each visit English and Journalism classes and give Master Classes as well as a joint reading on March 24 at 4:30 PM. The joint reading is free and open to the public.

Biss is the author of three books: On Immunity: An Inoculation (Graywolf 2014), Notes from No Man’s Land: American Essays (Graywolf 2009), and The Balloonists (Hanging Loose 2002). Her work has been supported by a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Howard Foundation Fellowship, an NEA Literature Fellowship, a 21st Century Award from the Chicago Public Library, and a Jaffe Writers’ Award. Her essays have recently appeared in the New York Times Magazine, The Believer, Gulf Coast, Denver Quarterly, and Harper’s. She holds a B.A. in nonfiction writing from Hampshire College and an MFA in nonfiction writing from the University of Iowa.

Bresland is an essayist who works in film, radio and print. His work has been anthologized in Essayists on the Essay: Montaigne to Our Time as well as The Fourth Genre, an anthology of contemporary creative nonfiction. His video essay, “Mangoes,” was recently installed at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation. He teaches creative writing and media arts at Northwestern University.
