The Eastern Standard Trio formed in August of 2014 when its members met and discovered they shared the same passion for making chamber music and wanted to see what they could do to propagate and extend the repertoire for the horn/tuba/piano trio. To that end, the group has been active in seeking funding, identifying collaborative composers, and engaging in commissioning, recording, and performance projects. The unique blend of the conical brass instruments with piano is one which is both beautiful and expressive. Eastern Standard hopes to make the general awareness of this instrumentation more mainstream. To date, the ensemble has commissioned 12 works for horn/tuba/piano trio.
