Student Meal Plans
Meal plans are designed to provide students with maximum dining flexibility, value, and convenience on campus. Your student ID card is used for both meal swipes and dollars. Please keep in mind that the balance on all meal plan dollars will expire by the end of spring semester. All residential students are required to be on a meal plan, and meal plans are determined based on a student’s class year.
First, review the plan components:
Meal swipes: First-year and sophomore/junior meal plans include a certain number of meal swipes to access Curtis and Huffman dining halls. Unused meal swipes do not roll over and reset weekly on Sunday morning.
Meal exchange: First-year and sophomore/junior meal plans include a portion of the meal swipes that can be used as meal exchanges that provide meal options in Slayter, Slivy’s or the Nest. Unused meal swipes do not roll over and reset weekly on Sunday morning.
Flex Dollars: All plans have a certain amount of Flex Dollars for the student to use that can be used at any on-campus Denison Hospitality location. As the student uses Flex Dollars for purchases, the balance declines. Flex Dollars not used during fall semester will roll to the student’s spring semester meal plan. Unused Flex Dollars are forfeited at the end of the academic year.
Big Red Bucks: All plans have a portion of their Flex Dollars for students to use at participating Granville businesses as Big Red Bucks. As the student uses Big Red Bucks for purchases, the balance declines. Flex Dollars not used during fall semester will roll to the student’s spring semester meal plan. Unused Flex Dollars are forfeited at the end of the academic year.
Denison Dollars: A Denison Dollars account is a prepaid, declining balance account that can be used on campus for purchases at the University Bookstore, Copy Center, Mail Center, all Denison Hospitality locations, and Bandersnatch (our student coffee house) as well as any of the off-campus locations Big Red Bucks can be used. Money can be added to your account at any time. Any unused funds at the end of the semester will be carried over to the next semester.
