On Wednesday, September 27 at 8 p.m. join local legend Vince Porcheddu-Engel for a talk about the Gay Liberation Movement from a personal perspective. Porcheddu-Engel will share a lifetime of experiences about growing up queer in the 1950s, navigating homophobia in the 1960s and 1970s, his activism during the AIDS crisis, and some reflections on today’s backlash against the queer community. As the forces arrayed against the queer community become stronger, lessons from the past are crucial for understanding the present, perhaps today more than ever. His talk will be followed by a short question and answer session.
