Biography

Mitchell McCrady is the affiliated instructor of horn at Denison University and active central Ohio freelance hornist. He received his master’s degree in horn performance from Indiana University and Bachelor of Music from the University of Dayton. His primary teachers include Jeff Nelsen, Dr. Richard Chenoweth, and C. Scott Smith.

Upon completing his studies at Indiana University, Mitchell returned to Ohio and lives in Columbus. He is a member of the Central Ohio Symphony, New Albany Symphony Orchestra, Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra, Lancaster Festival Orchestra, and Worthington Chamber Orchestra. In addition to these groups, he subs regularly with the Westerville Symphony, Lima Symphony, Springfield Symphony, and Ohio Valley Symphony.

Mitchell enjoys chamber music collaborations and is a founding member of the OH5O Wind Quintet. He also plays alphorn and performs yearly at the Ohio Swiss Festival in Sugarcreek.
