Denison University Named 2016 “Hidden Gem” College

May 13, 2016

Denison University has been recognized once again for the superior education experience it offers. College Raptor has named the college as the “The Best Hidden Gem College in Ohio.” This recognition aims to highlight colleges and universities around the country that offer excellent educations.

During the last year, Denison has introduced a number of new strategic initiatives; including three groundbreaking and unique academic majors — in global commerce, data analytics, and health, exercise and sports science — as well as two new concentrations in financial economics and narrative nonfiction; a significant increase in paid internships and the launch of several innovative career-preparation programs; an expansion of global programs; and an expanded focus on developing mutually beneficial relationships in nearby Columbus, which is trending for college students as grads, and recently was named by Forbes as the top “opportunity city” in the nation.

“We agree that Denison is a gem of a college,” said Denison University President Adam Weinberg. “And with a record-breaking applicant pool and healthy enrollment, we are a college that is thriving. It’s an exciting time to be part of a college that has a long tradition of excellence and graduates who are succeeding in so many different ways.”

The list of colleges was determined based on the number of applicants, the number of enrolled students, and the institution’s national ranking, according to data obtained by College Raptor through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. The national ranking or “Overall Ranking” is determined based on academic and outcome data, including graduation rate, selectivity, student-to-faculty ratio and other factors.
