January 14, 2015

The Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA) has announced that Arthur Chonko, director of facilities services at Denison University, has received the Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) credential. The CEFP is a measure of validation for the unique knowledge and competency required of an accomplished professional in the educational facilities field.

“Art has been employed with us since 1996, and he’s been exemplary in his position,” said Seth Patton, Denison’s vice president for finance and management. “This rigorous program is quite prestigious, and it underscores what an asset Art is to Denison.”

“By obtaining the CEFP, it assures the individual and their institution that they have established a thorough and applied understanding of the best management practices related to educational facilities,” said J. Thomas Becker, chair of APPA’s Board for Educational Facilities Professionals Certification. “Our CEFP recipients and their institutions have also committed to an ongoing program of professional development that will further assure cutting-edge relevancy going forward. The APPA CEFP is quickly becoming the industry standard for leaders within educational facilities.”

APPA promotes leadership in educational facilities for professionals seeking to build their careers, transform their institutions, and elevate the value and recognition of facilities in education. APPA provides members the opportunity to explore trends, issues, and best practices in educational facilities through research, publications, professional development and credentialing. Formerly the Association of Physical Plant Administrators, APPA is the association of choice for 5,200 educational facilities professionals at more than 1,500 learning institutions throughout the United States, Canada and abroad.
