Denison University announces the appointment of BethAnn Zambella as the new director of the William Howard Doane Library beginning Monday, July 1. Zambella currently serves as the college librarian and director of the High Library at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania.

“Denison is very lucky to have been able to hire BethAnn as the next director of the Library,” said Provost Bradley Bateman. “She is dedicated to the liberal arts and understands the needs of our community very well.”

Zambella holds a bachelor’s in English and creative writing from Brown University, a master’s of library science, with honors, from Columbia University and a master’s of education in educational psychology, learning, cognition and development from Rutgers University.

“I’m pleased to be working with a great group of colleagues who have a strong service ethic,” said Zambella. “I’m looking forward to helping the library become further integrated into the life of the college.”

During her tenure at Elizabethtown College, Zambella provided strategic vision, direction, and leadership for the continued advancement of the High Library as a center of academic excellence on campus. She coordinated all library services and operations while overseeing a six-figure annual budget.

In her more than 20 years as a library scientist, Zambella has worked with Wellesley College as a research and instruction librarian; Harvard University as a reference librarian for the Lamont Library; Rutgers University as a reference librarian and bibliographic instruction coordinator; and Fairleigh Dickinson University as head of public services.

Zambella is a member of the American Library Association and the Association of American Colleges and Universities, among others.
