The Center for Narrative Journalism welcomes author Anna Badkhen presenting a conversation about immersion writing. Badkhen grew up behind the Iron Curtain in the Soviet Union, worked as a war correspondent for 15 years covering conflicts in Africa, Europe, and Asia before turning her attention to writing works of literary nonfiction on the lives of everyday people in extremis. Her awards include the Guggenheim Fellowship, the Barry Lopez Visiting Writer in Ethics and Community Fellowship, and the Joel B. Seldin Award from Psychologists for Social Responsibility for writing about civilians in war zones.
