July 25, 2014

Suni Harford, a managing director and Citigroup’s Head of Markets for North America, has been awarded an alumni citation from her alma mater, Denison University in Granville, Ohio. In a ceremony that took place in June, Denison President Adam Weinberg presented Harford with the highest honor conferred on a graduate or friend of the college.

Harford, a member of the Denison class of 1984, oversees the North American sales, trading, and origination businesses of Citi’s securities and banking franchise. In addition to her current responsibilities, she is a member of Citi’s Pension Plan Investment Committee, and a director on the board of Citibank Canada. Harford also is the co-head of Citigroup’s global women’s initiative, Citi Women.

Harford is a member of the Board of Directors of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation. She also serves on several non-profit boards, including the Forte Foundation, an organization dedicated to increasing the number of women leaders in business; the Taproot Foundation, an organization engaged in skills-based volunteerism and pro-bono philanthropy; and the Friends of Hudson River Park.

Harford is passionate about awareness and support for the veteran community, and in addition to serving on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Veteran’s Employment Advisory Council, she is seconded to Citi’s ex-chairman Dick Parsons and his work with First Lady Michele Obama’s Joining Forces initiative. Harford represents Citi as a founding member of Veterans on Wall Street, having helped formalize Citi’s very successful Veterans Initiative, CitiSalutes, in 2009. She remains the senior business sponsor for the initiative.

Harford joined Salomon Brothers in January 1993, after five years with Merrill Lynch & Co. She joined Merrill upon graduation from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Prior to business school, Ms. Harford was an actuary at Insurance Services Office, Inc.

Harford received her bachelor of science degree from Denison University, where she majored in physics and math. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and three children: Devon, Jenna and Liam.
