1939 – Jean Gregg Ferguson, 102, of Beaufort, N.C., died March 10, 2020. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Elsie Gregg; her husband, Fergie Ferguson ’37; and her brother, Donald Gregg. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Ferguson and Pennylloyd Baldridge; son, Timothy Ferguson; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Doris Gregg Smith ’42.

1941 – “Ruth Ann” Ford Denhart, 98, of Charlotte, N.C., died April 25, 2020. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Lulu Ford, and her husband, Paul Denhart. She is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” Denhart; daughters, Deborah Kappers and Christine Dargusch; six grandchildren, including Alicia Kappers ’02; and six great-grandchildren.

1942 – Thomas “Tom” Fox, 98, of Sarasota, Fla, died Oct. 12, 2019. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Fox 1915 and Vivian Crutchfield Fox 1914; his brother, Bob Fox ’49; and his sister, Nancy Fox McIntyre ’46. He is survived by his wife, Betty Wells Fox ’43; daughter, Marcia Ward; sons, T. Bruce Fox and Brian Fox; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

1943 – Sister Elise (Zoe Euverard), 98, of Brewster, N.Y., died Feb. 2, 2020. She earned her B.S. degree in 1948 and her M.S. degree in 1949, both from Julliard School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ruth Euverard, and her sister, Myrna Euverard McKie ’46.

1943 – Louise Sutliff Sheldon, 97, of Niceville, Fla., died March 3, 2019. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, William. She is survived by her sons, Scott and Ted.

1943 – June Ernest Watters, 96, of Boca Raton, Fla., died June 3, 2017. She had been a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray. She is survived by her son, Ray.

1944

1944 – Walter Muellenhagen, 96, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died July 2, 2018. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette. He is survived by his son, Walter; his daughter, Judith; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

1944 – Richard “Dick” Robinson, 97, of Minerva, Ohio, died Jan. 8, 2020. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity at Denison prior to earning his degree in Ceramic Engineering 1948 from The Ohio State University. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Doris Robinson; his wife, Pauline; his daughter, Marcia; granddaughter, Evelyn Robinson; great-grandson, David Cobbs; and his brother, Robert Robinson ’46. He is survived by his son, Douglas; daughters, Nancy Cobbs, Diantha Mangino, and Barbara Speelman; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

1944 – Alfred Stites, 93, of Albuquerque, N.M., died April 11, 2016. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Survivors include his second wife, Toni; two sons, Alfred and David; daughters, Hydie and Marcia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

1944 – Jay Stubenhaus, 95, of Bridgeport, Conn., died July 11, 2018. He studied at Antioch College prior to being a part of the Navy V-5/V-12 program at Denison. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly. He is survived by his sons, Eric and Neil; daughters, Alison and Amy; six grandchildren; and his sister, Joan Solorow.

1945 – Elaine Engwall Bevilacqua, 94, of Richmond, Va., died Feb. 12, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Ruth Engwall, and by her husband, Joseph Bevilacqua.

1945 – Carl Larson, 92, of Minneapolis, Minn., died Apr. 16, 2016. A WWII Veteran, he was part of the Navy V-5/V-12 program while at Denison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; his son, Larry; and his eight siblings. He is survived by his son, David; daughter, Nancy Jackson; and three grandchildren.

1945 – Jean Ferguson Parsons, 96, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died March 31, 2020. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Ashmun ’45. She is survived by her second husband, Fred Parsons; daughters, Kathryn Aufman and Betsy Alexis; sons, Douglas Ashmun; stepsons, Jeffrey and Thomas Parsons; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her sister, Diane Engel.

1945 – Margaret “Peg” VanHorn Stearns, 96, of Naperville, Ill., died April 9, 2020. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was preceded in death by parents, Irving and Ethel VanHorn; her first husband, Walter Glover; her second husband, Warren Stearns; her sisters, Reva and Mildred; and her brother, Irving. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Stalls, Susan Craighead, and Judith Cade; stepdaughters, Peggy Damiano and Janet Stearns; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

1945 – Paul Westerby, 92, of East Lansing, Mich., died June 23, 2016. He was a member of the Navy V-5/V-12 program while at Denison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Pearl Westerby; his daughter, Darlene Watterworth; brothers, Delor, James, Billy, and Tommy Westerby; and his sister, Dorothea Wreesman. He is survived by his son, Daniel; daughter, Violeta Westford; and brother, Donald Westerby. His wife, June, died Jan. 22, 2019.

1946 – Myrna Euverard McKie, 95, of Kerrville, Texas, died July 29, 2017. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ruth Euverard; her first husband, Clarence Standberg; and her second husband, James McKie. She is survived by her stepchildren, Thomas McKie and Linda Sheehy; five step-grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren. Her sister, Sister Elise (Zoe Euverard) ’43 died Feb. 2, 2020.

1946 – Dorothy Jenkins McLaughlin, 97, of Washington, D.C., died April 28, 2019. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn. She is survived by her son, Kent.

1946 – Thomas “Tom” Newitt, 95, of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., died April 22, 2020. He was a member of the Navy V-5/V-12 program while at Denison. He was also a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Survivors include his sons, Christopher and Lance Newitt; daughter, Heidi Newitt Lewis ’02; his brother, Cyrus; and his former wives, Nina Newitt and Monika Newitt.

1946 – Herman Will, 93, of Columbus, Ohio, died Nov. 15, 2015. He attended Denison and St. Louis University and graduated from Evansville College. He was preceded in death by his eight siblings. He is survived by his sons, Tom and Roch Will; daughter, Leslie King; and nine grandchildren. His wife, Peg, died Jan. 17, 2016.

1947 – Jean Brokaw Abell, 93, of Penney Farms, Fla., died April 5, 2020. In 2002, she received an Alumni Citation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abram and Adah Brokaw; her husband, Norm Abell ’47; and her great-granddaughter, Seren McManus. She is survived by her sons, Robert and James Abell; daughters, Grace Boivin and Marjorie Clark; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

1947 – Morris “Mo” Dixon, 94, of Cleveland, Ohio, died May 16, 2020. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the Navy V-5/V-12 program. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jill, and his brother, Hank Dixon ’49. He is survived by his sons, Peter, Thom, Jim, and Andy Dixon; daughter, Molly; 11 grandchildren; and great-granddaughter, Claire.

1947 – Margaret “Marge” Peoples Korver, 93, of Sun City Center, Fla., died Feb. 22, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Peoples 1923 and Dorothy Richards Peoples 1924, and by her husband, Bruce Korver. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Harris, and her son, Kenneth Korver.

1947 – Edgar Percy, 92, of San Luis Obispo, Calif., died Nov. 25, 2015. He was a member of the Navy V-5/V-12 program while at Denison and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Survivors include his second wife, Lillian.

1947 – Karl Wildermuth, 95, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Dec. 1, 2019. He was a member of the Navy V-5/V-12 program while at Denison, where he was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Beata Wildermuth, and his brother, Herbert Jr.. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Hott Wildermuth ’49; two daughters, Teresa and Lisa; two sons, Kirk and Mark; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

1948 – Joanne Vercoe Cooper, 93, of Columbus, Ohio, died Jan. 21, 2020. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cooper ’45. She is survived by her sons, Robert, Michael and Christopher Cooper; daughter, Marcia Cooper; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

1948 – Camille “Camie” Dawson, 92, of Ambler, Pa., died Feb. 27, 2020. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Camille Dawson. She is survived by multiple cousins on both the Dawson and Ebert sides of her family.

1948 – Norma Ackley Gill, 93, of Plano, Texas, died Nov. 21, 2019. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery. She is survived by her son, David; daughter, Paula Gill Mathison ’77; and two granddaughters.

1948 – Ann Meckel Hendry, 92, of Sanibel, Fla., died Nov. 27, 2019. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She met her future husband while at Denison, and they married Aug. 19, 1949. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Bertha Meckel; her husband, Tom Hendry ’49; and her sisters, Janet Thomas and Margaret Gooding. She is survived by her daughters, Janet Hendry ’76 and Beth Ingram; sons, James and David Hendry; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

1948 – Nancy Boring Hollenkamp, 92, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Aug. 14, 2019. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her sister, Marjorie Blankemeyer. She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Sticklen and Nancy Heekin; son, Tim Hollenkamp; 10 grandchildren, including Amy Hollenkamp ’13; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Janice Blankemeyer.

1948 – Moses Lane, 96, of Bradenton, Fla., died Oct. 19, 2019. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Callahan Lane ’49; his daughter Terry Deevy; and his son, Larry Lane. He is survived by his daughter, Bari Lane Dreissigacker ’72; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

1948 – Frances Carpenter McPherson, 92, of Ventura, Calif., died March 20, 2020. She earned her B.S. degree in 1949 from the University of Michigan. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward McPherson. She is survived by her sons, Edward, Mark, and Douglas; her daughter, Jean McPherson; and 11 grandchildren.

1948 – William “Bill” O’Dea, 95, of Newport Beach, Calif., died Jan. 15, 2019. He was a member of the Army Air Cadets while at Denison and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He earned his B.S. degree in 1950 from Case Western Reserve University. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen. He is survived by his son, Brian.

1948 – Nancy Martin Pryor, 92, of Bartlesville, Okla., died March 8, 2020. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Martin; mother, Clara Martin; stepmother, Charlotte Martin; and her husband, Roland. She is survived by her daughter, Holly Caskey; son, Martin Pryor; five grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Alice McRae.

1949 – Arthur “Pete” Davis, 92, of Richmond, Va., died Feb. 26, 2020. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Davis Sr. and Mary Davis Beach; his first wife, Beverly Davis; second wife, Jean Davis; stepson, Robert Moorman; and his sister, Mary Adams. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Feeser; and Linda Odiorne; stepdaughter, Helen Moorman; and nine grandchildren.

1949 – Howard “Todd” Fast, 93, of Everett, Wash., died Dec. 12, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Rose Fast, and his wife, Jo Staats Fast ’49. He is survived by his 12 children, 23 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

1949 – Richard “Dick” Gravett, 95, of Palm Desert, Calif., died Jan. 15, 2020. He served as a naval officer in WWII and was a member of the Navy V-5/V-12 program at Denison. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Survivors include his third wife, Pamela; son, Glenn; daughter, Stacey; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren.

1949 – Marjorie “Marnie” Little Oakman, 95, of Littleton, Colo., died May 1, 2020. During her senior year at Denison, she was awarded the McNeil Prize for poetry. PShe was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanor Little and Edwin Little 1910; her husband, Charlie Oakman; and her brother, Bob Little ’42. She is survived by her daughters, Ellen Gillette and Mariel “Mimi” Dickinson, and four grandchildren.

1949 – Louise “Lou” Wetstein Simpson, 93, of Birmingham, Mich., died May 26, 2020. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Sarah Wetstein; her sisters, Suse Guttormsen, Mary Trimble, and Sarah Arthur; and her former husband, John Simpson. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Brown; her son, Reid Simpson; grandson, Ian Simpson; and great-grandson, Nolan Simpson.

1950 – Ann Morgan Albershardt, 91, of Granville, Ohio, died Feb. 12, 2020. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth Morgan, and her husband, Bill Albershardt ’49. She is survived by her sons, William, Mark, and Andrew; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

1950 – Leon “Lee” Greene, 94, of Sarasota, Fla., died May 29, 2020. He was a member of the American Commons Club. In 1981, he received an Alumni Citation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Florence Greene, and his brother, Elmer Greene. He is survived by his wife, Grace Smith Greene ’50; daughter, Jennifer DeCelle; sons, Jeffrey and James; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Cheryl Haak.

1950 – John Hagemeyer, 93, of Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio, died Feb. 10, 2020. He earned his LLB degree in 1952 from the University of Virginia Law School. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Betty; sons, John, Joel, and Derek; daughter, Gwen; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mildred Hagemeyer.

1950 – Joe Hammond, 91, of Dover, Ohio, died Dec. 4, 2019. He was recruited by and played for Woody Hayes at Denison until on a lark with some close friends he joined the Marines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecelia and Howard “Bally” Hammond, and his sister, Ann Skelley. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; daughters, Holli MacMahon and Lori Griffith; sons, Scot and Matthew Hammond; 15 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

1950 – Nancy Echols Johnson, 90, of Bend, Ore., died Dec. 23, 2019. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. Survivors include her husband, Bruce, and her son, Curt.

1950 – John “JB” Lytle, 92, of Fredericksburg, Ohio, died Dec. 31, 2019. He was part of the Navy V-5/V-12 program, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertha Lytle; his daughter, Hope Hart; his brother, Carl Lytle; and his sister, Nancy Lytle. He is survived by his wife, Marianne; sons, Skip and Mark; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

1950 – Harvey Moger, 92, of Simsbury, Conn., died March 24, 2020. He graduated from Columbia University in 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence Moger, and his sister, Doris Hoyle. He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Jeff, Brad, George, and Alan Moger; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

1950 – Donna Baker Ridgley, 91, of Aurora, Ohio, died Dec. 9, 2019. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edythe Baker, and her stepson, Doug Ridgley. She is survived by her second husband, Garland; three daughters, Kim Hosler, Rebecca Catalucci, and Cindy Hudson; stepdaughter, Gail Pansini; and three grandchildren.

1950 – Taylor Roth, 91, of Sharon, Mass., died Feb. 8, 2020. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Ezra Roth; his first wife, Alice; his second wife, Janiece; daughter, Mary Guiles; and his stepson, Mark Whitney. He is survived by his daughters, Martha Kovat and Deborah Margarite; son, Taylor Roth; stepdaughter, Diane Whitney; stepson, Chris Whitney; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

1950 – Marilou Taggart, 93, of Denver, Colo., died April 30, 2020. She was a member of the Shepardson Club, and she earned her Master of Divinity degree in 1955 from Union Theological Seminary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Corabelle Taggart; her sister, Jo Taggart Burr ’51; and her brother, James Taggart. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Winseman, and many nieces and nephews.

1951 – Douglas Brooks, 91, of Alexandria, Va., died May 9, 2020. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Douglas and Mildred Brooks, and two sisters, Eileen Poister and Mleva Jimerson. He is survived by his wife, Marian; daughters, Elizabeth Weber and Julia McCluskey; son, Douglas Brooks; and five grandchildren.

1951 – Edith “Edie” Pusey Cannon, 90, of Kennett Square, Pa., died Feb. 16, 2020. She was a member of Delta Gamma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth Pusey, and her second husband, Raymond. She is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca Callahan, Martha Hashem, and Amy Betts; her four stepchildren, Stephen, Jeff, and Bill Cannon, and Lori Patterson; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Walter Pusey.

1951 – Joseph “Joe” Keaney, 90, of Cornwall, Pa., died Feb. 18, 2020. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Keaney, and his brother, Robert Keaney ’50. He is survived by his wife, Sally; daughters, Kathleen Snavely, Mary Twombly, and Patricia Wallett; son, Joseph Keaney III; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

1951 – Thelma “Tee Jay” Evans King, 89, of Wilmington, Del., died March 31, 2020. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas “Tibby” and Irma Evans; her brother, Tom Evans; and her sister, Ruth Evans Uffelman ’46. She is survived by her son, John “Jay” Cox III; daughter, Tamara DeFer; two grandchildren; and her eldest sibling, Janice Evans Stoner.

1951 – Shirley Osborn Reading, 91, of Cleveland, Ohio, died May 22, 2020. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and a cheerleader. She was named Theta of the Year in 1997, receiving the Founders Pin Award in 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Reading ’51; brother, David Osborn; and sisters, Eleanor Osborn Jasper ’38 and Dorothy Dickey. She is survived by her daughters, Meg Reading Goetz ’77, Jane Bemmerl, and Ann Reading; son, T. Garry Reading; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her twin sister, Carol Moger.

1951 – John “Jack” Slater, 91, of Columbia, S.C., died April 10, 2020. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, prior to transferring to The Ohio State University, where he earned a degree in business. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Slater and Christopher Slater, and his brother, Bill Slater. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, daughters, Polly Slater and Wendy Kemp, son, Michael Slater, and four grandchildren.

1951 – Carol Hanna Spain, 90, of Waco, Texas, died April 9, 2020. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority, prior to earning her B.A. degree from Baylor University. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Irene Hanna, and her daughter, Beth Anne Walworth. She is survived by her second husband, Rufus Spain; daughter, Julie Meyer; sons, John and David Spain; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

1952 – Mary Lou McCullough Anderson, 90, of Kansas City, Mo., died April 8, 2020. She was also a member of Phi Beta Phi sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, John McCullough 1925 and Mary Anderson McCullough 1925; her husband, William Anderson; infant daughter, Mary; and her sister, June Berger. She is survived by her son, Breck Anderson; daughter, Nancy Alemifar; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

1952 – Ferdinand “Ferd” Bach, 88, of San Antonio, Texas, died May 16, 2020. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity prior to earning his B.A. degree in 1953 from Michigan State University. He had served as trustee and treasurer for Kappa Sigma Alumni Association Gamma Xi chapter of Denison University. Survivors include his wife, Beverly; a son, John; two daughters, Cynthia Bowley and Lee Ann Hill; and nine grandchildren.

1952 – George “Robert” Dean, 88, of Spencerport, N.Y., died Jan. 21, 2020. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was preceded in death by his sister, Deanie Dean Schaefer ’50. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, William and James; daughter, Catherine Gretzinger; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

1952 – Edwin “Ed” Harris, 90, of Camby, Ind., died Dec. 28, 2019. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mary Harris, and his wife, Mildred “Scottie”. He is survived by his sons, Scott and Randy Harris; daughter, Laura Ibers; and six grandchildren.

1952 – Jean Rippl Hawkins, 90, of Wolfeboro, N.H., died Jan. 18, 2020. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, a resident of the first honor dormitory, a member of Outing Club, and a member of Mortar Board. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elsie Rippl, and her husband, Bud Hawkins ’52. She is survived by her daughter and daughter-in-law, Heather Hawkins ’80 and Betsy McDowell ’80, and her son and daughter-in-law, John and Alison Hawkins.

1952 – Mary Brooks Leversee, 88, of Novato, Calif., died April 5, 2019. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Leversee, and her son, John Leversee. She is survived by her sons, Richard and William Leversee, and her daughter, Sally Carlile.

1952 – Fred Marcoux, 93, of Apple Valley, Calif., died April 14, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Alva Marcoux; his wife, Priscilla; and his daughter, Alyssa Guardado. He is survived by his daughters, Monica Hunter and Joyce Paquereau.

1952 – Ursula “Sulli” Kroeger Stinchcomb, 89, of Winter Park, Fla., died March 12, 2020. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Stinchcomb ’51. She is survived by her sons, Robert and Steven Stinchcomb, and daughters, Susan Sharkey and Sarah Baldwin.

1953 – Nancy Passolt Anto, 88, of Vero Beach, Fla., died May 10, 2020. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. 1971 – Ann McIntyre Vartanian, 70, of New York, N.Y., died Nov. 30, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph McIntyre and Jean Houser McIntyre ’47. She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Andrew “Drew” and David Vartanian; sister, Lynn Coffey; and brother, Jeff McIntyre.

1972 – Wrise Dugger Booker, 69, of Cerritos, Calif., died March 31, 2020. She was selected as homecoming queen, and was awarded her teaching fellowship as a junior and appointed to teach two literature courses, graduating summa cum laude in English. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Wertha Dugger, and her husband, Herb Booker ’71. She is survived by her sister, Kountez Moore; brother, Edward Dugger III; four nephews and a niece.

1973 – Mary “Cameron” Keefer, 64, of Devon, Pa., died June 1, 2016. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Keefer ’69.

1973 – Steven “Steve” McBride, 68, of Littleton, Colo., died Jan. 1, 2020. He was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa honorary, and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Survivors include his daughter, Alison Winn; sons, Ian McBride and Mitchell Polutchko; two grandchildren; a brother, Ron McBride; and his sister, Judith Bentley.

1975 – Richard “Dick” Bergen, 67, of Hartford, Conn., died April 9, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nancy and Hunt Bergen, and his brother, Gordon Bergen. He is survived by his sons, Connor and Leland Bergen; their mother, Eileen Flaherty; his brother, Hunt Bergen; and his sister, Elizabeth Bergen ’78.

1975 – Thomas “Tom” Kindle, 66, of Newport, Ky., died April 2, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Charles Kindle. He is survived by his son, Edward “Ted” Kindle; brother, Jeffrey Kindle; and sister, Barbara Atkinson.

1975 – Charlotte Eckman Petrie, 67, of Fishers, Ind., died March 27, 2020. Survivors include her parents, Edward Charles and Rosemarie Eckman; her son, John “Jack” Petrie; and her brother, Eric Eckman.

1976 – Ronald “Ron” Rope, 65, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died April 17, 2020. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Sue Thieme Rope ’76; son, Jesse Rope; daughter, Alison Lerman; sister, Lisa Rope-Wilson ’76; and brother, Alan Rope. 1978 – Phillip “Phil” Jenkins, 63, of Washington, D.C., died Dec. 17, 2019. In 2013, he received Denison’s Alumni Citation Award for his work with NASA and as part of the Mars Pathfinder program. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Jenkins. Survivors include his mother, Glen; wife, Amy; son, Samuel; daughter, Elizabeth Patel; his grandson; his brother, Gale Jenkins, and his sister, Sarah Stewart.

1978 – Anne Hornickel Yuska, 63, of St. Paul, Minn., died April 30, 2020. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. As the head of the North Star STEM Alliance at the University of Minnesota, she led a partnership of Minnesota colleges, universities and community organizations working to retain undergraduate students of color to graduation with a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field. She was preceded in death by her father, John Hornickel. She is survived by her mother, Polly Hornickel; husband, Thomas; son, Paul; daughter, Ellen; and her brother, John Hornickel.

1979 – David “Dave” Pietenpol, 62, of Fort Collins, Colo., died Dec. 26, 2019. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlea Pietenpol; and his sister, Lynn Pietenpol Johnson ’76. He is survived by his father, William “Pete” Pietenpol; his wife, Charlotte; sons, Charles “Chase” and Bryce; and his daughters, Anika and Annelise.

1982 – Eric Trulson, 59, of Suwanee, Ga., died Dec. 20, 2019. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Survivors include his parents, Conrad and Barbara Trulson; his wife, Christel; son, Alexander; daughter, Katherine; and his sisters, Andrea Dolph and Jodi MacBride.

1985 – Robert “Rob” Rowe, 56, of Bronx, N.Y., died April 18, 2020. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cynthia Rowe. Survivors include his sisters, Emily Rowe-Smith and Andrea Crittenden. His father, Robert Ford-Rowe died shortly after on April 25, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Clovis, and her mother, Judith Clovis. 1996 – Matthew “Matt” Thiemann, 46, of Louisville, Ky., died May 5, 2020. 1999 – Jennifer Bittner, 42, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Feb. 21, 2020. She was a member of the track & field and rugby teams at Denison, was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and had studied abroad at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where she was a member of the Corinthians rugby team. Survivors include her parents, Kitty and Jim Bittner; her husband, Rod Regala; sons, Jameson and Emeric; her brother, Jarrett; her sister, Melissa; and her grandmother, Agnes King.

2009 – Jason Goodspeed, 33, of Fairlawn, Ohio, died May 13, 2020. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Gary Goodspeed and Karen Tinley; his mother and stepfather, Rose Marie and Thomas Mercer; and stepsisters, Melissa Baun and Laura Mercer.

Preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Julia Remonko Sr.; infant brother, Peter; and infant grandson, Howard Reeves III. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Paul Remonko; daughter, Sara Remonko Reeves; and a grandson, Brackyn Reeves.

Former Staff – Ned Gaulke, 83, of Heath, Ohio, died Feb. 6, 2020. He began working at Denison as a Stationary Engineer in Facilities Services on Sept. 19, 1977, and he retired on Jan. 8, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Helen Gaulke; and his wife, Florence Gaulke. He is survived by his “adopted children”, Charles Sebastian and Heidi Sebastian.

Former Staff – Christopher “Chris” Marriott, 63, of Clarksville, Va., died Dec. 14, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Marriott. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, and his brothers, Phillip and Mark.
