Named to honor Denison alum, Senator Richard G. Lugar, the Richard G. Lugar ‘54 Program in Politics and Public Service provides Denison students with the educational and experiential background to navigate the public service landscape, and offers the wider community exposure to important issues of national and international consequence.

With this inaugural Lugar Symposium, we bring together scholars, policy professionals and elected officials to improve our understanding of the realities of political polarization and the possible factors which may contribute to or ameliorate the phenomenon. We welcome our invited participants to campus and anticipate the sharing of a variety of perspectives on political polarization, and the productive interaction on this subject among our guests and the Denison community.
