‘Researching in the Writing Center’

The Tuesday Faculty Lunch Series welcomes Brenda Boyle, associate professor of English and director of the Writing Center, and Marlaine Browning, interim assistant director of the Writing Center, presenting “Researching in the Writing Center: Senior Research Writing Retreats and the Writing Associate Pilot Program.”

For the past four semesters, the Writing Center has piloted two programs. The director of the Writing Center, Brenda Boyle, and the assistant director of the Writing Center, Marlaine Browning, will discuss preliminary results from these two initiatives. The first, Senior Research Writing Retreats, conducted in collaboration with the library, provides support to senior research students from across the curriculum. The second, the Writing Associates Program, pairs experienced Writing Center consultants with faculty who are new to teaching first-year and second-year writing courses, offering both students and faculty the intensive support that benefits writing instruction and practice.
