Questions:

Enjoy an evening concert from the string section of the Denison Symphony Orchestra, featuring a wide range of the string orchestra literature. The restrictions created by the COVID-19 pandemic have given us a special opportunity to explore this rich repertoire, including Felix Mendelssohn’s “Sinfonia No. 8,” which dates from his precocious teenage years, and two wonderful works by Black American composers: “Mother and Child,” by William Grant Still and Jessie Montgomery’s scintillating “Starburst.”  We will close with Samuel Barber’s classic, “Adagio for Strings,” which stands more than any other American work as a symbol of mourning, resilience, and hope.

There are two ways to enjoy the concert - Limited in-person seating is available for Denison students, faculty and staff in Sharon Martin Hall. Please choose the ‘In-Person Ticket’ ticket option when ordering (includes main level and balcony seating). The concert will be livestreamed, available to the public, and can be viewed from anywhere. To register for the concert link please choose the ‘Livestream Link’ ticket option when ordering and a viewing link will be emailed to you before the concert.  This concert will ONLY be accessible on Monday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. ET and will end immediately following the performance due to copyright/broadcast restrictions.
