The Denison Class of 2023 officially joins the Denison family on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Many of the Class already have been on campus taking part in August Pre-orientation programs. For the rest of the Class, Move-in Day begins on Sunday, with an able assist from the Aug-O and Residential Community student staffs, and Big Red athletes.

After a resource fair, a couple of information sessions, lunch and dinner, students and parents assemble for the Induction Ceremony at 7 p.m. (Students meet at the lawn outside Swasey Chapel at 6 p.m.)

During the Induction Ceremony, students are “clapped in” by faculty in regalia. They are welcomed by the student body president, the chair of the faculty, and President Weinberg. They also listen to the premiere performance of a musical fanfare commissioned specifically for the Class of 2023. Four years later, the fanfare is performed for the second and final time at the Class of 2023 Commencement.

After the Induction, it’s time for a quick farewell to parents and families as students gather for social activities and three days of August Orientation with their Aug-O leaders before the first day of classes on Thursday, August 29.
