We welcome Jason Stalnaker, a professor of physics at Oberlin College, as our first speaker for PHYS400 Seminar during the spring 2024 semester.

Astrophysical observations indicate that 80% of the matter in the universe is made up of dark matter, something completely unlike the ordinary matter that makes up everything we see around us. Stalnaker’s talk describes two experiments looking for dark matter using networks of detectors.

Stalnaker received his bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on precision atomic spectroscopy, femtosecond frequency combs, and atomic magnetometers.
