Biography

Chad Buckwalter serves as the Senior Associate Director of Global Learning in Denison’s Center for Global Programs, where he collaborates with colleagues to support international student advising, immigration compliance, and cross-campus initiatives that advance the university’s global engagement strategy. He works closely with students, faculty, and staff to foster inclusive, high-impact global learning experiences and to support the success and well-being of Denison’s international student community.

With over 14 years of experience in international education, Chad has worked in international student services, study abroad advising, multilingual learning, and global operations. Chad previously worked in Denison’s Center for Global Programs from 2018 to 2022 before returning in 2025 to continue advancing the university’s global learning mission. He holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University, where his research explored how internationalization and diversity efforts intersect in U.S. higher education. He also holds a master’s degree in Global and International Education with a concentration in Higher Education Administration.

Chad’s passion for international education began with an undergraduate study abroad experience at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China as a recipient of both the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and the Freeman-ASIA Scholarship. He later lived and worked in Beijing for five years, using that time to travel extensively throughout Asia. He and his family now call Columbus, Ohio home.
