Denison University welcomes Morgan Liu, associate professor in anthropology and Near Eastern languages and cultures at Ohio State University, presenting “Post-Soviet Transition in Central Asia.”

This year’s Celebration of Central Asia, which takes place from March 26 to April 18 at various locations on the Denison campus, features a textile exhibit, panel discussion, student-led panel and multiple lectures. Events include:

Global Studies Seminar at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 26, in the Shepardson College Room of Slayter Hall. Damira Sikhimbayeba, a Fulbright Scholar from Kazakhstan, and Vernon Schubel from Kenyon College will speak about Religion in post-Soviet Central Asia.

Public forum titled “Central Asia in Liberal Arts Education” with faculty from Denison and Ohio State University at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, in the Lecture Hall of the Burton D. Morgan Center.

Central Asia Textile Exhibition from VOICES International Art Initiative on display Thursday, April 05 and Friday, April 06, with an artist talk Friday at noon. Objects will represent culture of specific regions, including traditional embroidery, weaving, felt and patchwork.

“Post-Soviet Transition in Central Asia” with Ohio State University professor Morgan Liu at 4:30 p.m. on April 11, in the lecture hall of F.W. Olin Science Hall.

Student Led Panel about Central Asian Students at U.S. Colleges at 5 p.m. on April 18, in the Lecture Hall of the Burton D. Morgan Center.
