Dr. Ludwig honored with Brickman-Shannon Chair

Lewis Ludwig, associate professor of mathematics and computer science, was named the Nancy Eshelman Brickman Endowed Professor in Memory of Ellenor Shannon at the Academic Awards Convocation on Friday afternoon.

Dr. Ludwig continually strives to create new and innovative ways to engage students. His nominators described him as a “a master teacher, an enthusiastic proponent of faculty development, an institutional leader, and an engaged and effective scholar.”

In recognition of his commitment to the art of teaching, Dr. Ludwig was last year recognized by the Ohio Section of the Mathematical Association of America with their annual Award for
 Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics.

Dr. Ludwig is also a nationally recognized expert on oral communication in mathematics. His Technically Speaking project, funded by the NSF, has reached hundreds of teachers around the world.
