FAQ

When and where is the Commencement ceremony?

The ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. Weather permitting, the ceremony is held outdoors on the Fine Arts Quad on Lower Campus. If there is inclement weather, the ceremony is held in the Mitchell Center. Graduates and guests should check the Denison website the morning of Commencement if there are questions about location. Please be aware of weather conditions if the ceremony is outdoors and plan to dress accordingly.

How long is the ceremony?

The ceremony typically lasts about 3 hours.

Do I need tickets for the ceremony? How many guests may I invite?

Seating at Commencement is available on a first-come, first-served basis. No tickets are required. There is no limit on the number of guests you may bring.

Which Baccalaureate program should we attend?

On Friday, graduates and guests may choose to attend either the 4 p.m. or 7 p.m. Baccalaureate celebration (the programs are identical), or neither. We suggest arriving 30 minutes before the start of the program as Swasey Chapel tends to fill for both.

What about special-needs guests?

Please see Venue Information for special-needs seating.

Please see Parking & Shuttles for special-needs parking.
